Vimarsh 2023 5G Hackathon
Context:
The Telecom Centres of Excellence (TCoE) India, under the SRI unit of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), collaborated with the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), to organize the Vimarsh 2023 5G Hackathon.

Main Highlights:
- The objective of the Hackathon was to tackle critical issues, explore innovative solutions for Law Enforcement Agencies, address challenges they encounter, and foster innovation in the field.
- During the third and final screening phase held on February 21st and 22nd, 2024, 22 out of 23 startups and institutes showcased Use Case Proof of Concepts (PoC) at the DoT-funded IIT Madras 5G Testbed. The demonstrations were conducted in the presence of esteemed Jury Members, both physically and virtually.
- The Jury evaluated various demonstrations, including Automated drones, use cases related to AR/VR, Surveillance & Investigation, Evidence collection, Emergency response, Intelligent Traffic Management systems, 5G metadata analysis, Geo-fencing, AI-based FIR filing, among others.
- The event witnessed the emergence of impactful solutions such as Drone-based surveillance for safety and security, AI-assisted FIR filing, geofencing solutions for crime scene investigation, AR-based training through crime scene recreation, and AI-based Data analytics & data processing Apps for predictive policing, among others.
